The effect of foliar application of microelements carboxylate on photosynthetic pigments in winter wheat leaves

A study was made of the effect of foliar application of complex of microelements chelated on carboxylic acids, obtained using nanotechnology methods, on the pigment complex of various varieties of winter wheat. It was established that the treatment of plants with the complex increased the content of chlorophylls a and b, as well as total carotenoids in comparison with the control in the late phases of plants development. The high efficiency of foliar treatment of plants with carboxylates of microelements was observed in the year with arid conditions during the grain filling period. The content of both forms of chlorophyll and their amount during the phase of milk-waxy ripeness under such conditions increased by 13–19 %, carotenoids by 14 –15 %, while in year with the best conditions of moisture supply their concentration, respectively, increased by 4 – 8 and by 7–12 %. An increase in the ratio of chlorophylls (а + b) to carotenoids under conditions of drought has also been established. This indicates that the foliar application of plants with a microelement complex contributed to the prolongation of the functioning of the pigment complex during the reproductive period of development. At the same time, not observed significant differences between treated and control plants in the ratio of chlorophylls a and b. Therefore, the treatment of plants with carboxylates of microelements did not affect on the stoichiometry between the complexes of the reaction centers of photosystems and light-harvesting complexes of photosystem II. Activation of regulatory mechanisms in winter wheat plants under the influence of microelements complex is associated with the presence in its composition of a number of important trace elements.
