Nicholas II at the Mogilev headquarters (August 1915 – March 1917): life and politics

The article reveals the peculiarities of Nicholas II stay in Mogilev during the First World War. The sources made it possible to get an idea about the location, staffing, lifestyles in the higher ranks of the Headquarters, to show Nicholas II in the role of the Supreme Commander, his relations with the army elites, especially in Mogilev. Special attention is paid to the attempts of representatives of the liberal opposition to influence the Emperor and his military surrounding, the activities of the Grand Dukes, the Supreme Generals of the Russian army in the days critical for the monarchy in February – March 1917.
