Middle course of the Desna at the turn of the 1st millennium BC – 1st millennium AD: a view of archaeozoologist
Keywords:
Middle Desna, archeozoology, Yukhnovo culture, Pochep culture, Kyiv cultureAbstract
Generalised regional information on the fauna of the sites of the Pochep culture (Vorobeyna-1, Kudeyarka, Pochep, Kurovo-7). Dominance cattle, pig. On the Kudeyarka a sheep prevails. A comparison with the preceding Yukhnovo culture demonstrates a sharp difference between the structure of the herd and the values of hunting. The reason is the change of the population and the landscape. For Kyiv culture, replacing the priest was studied osteological material from the north of the area (Chotylevo-2, Novoyamskoe-3a). In the herd dominates cattle and pigs, the proportion of petty cattle is less. Horse carriers of the Pochene and Kyiv traditions, unlike of Yukhnovo peoples, practically did not eat, using both the righteous and heavy animal. According to archeozoology, the Yukhnovo culture does not demonstrate a connection with the Pochep and Kyiv cultures.
