Abstract

The state archive of the The Grand Duchy of Lithuania is an object of significant importance for the study of the foreign and domestic policy of this state, and of the foreign policy of Poland, Germany, Russia, Turkey and some other countries. One of the most valuable parts of the state archives was a complex of important original documents of the The Grand Duchy of Lithuania, about 100 units for period 1386–1601, issued mostly on parchment: peace agreements with neighboring states; the acts of the Union of the The Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Kingdom of Poland; documents regarding the relationship between the The Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Holy See (papal bulls, breve); and other groups of acts. This part of the The Grand Duchy of Lithuania state archive at present day don’t form one body. This complex was broken up and moved to storage in different archives and libraries of Poland, Russia, the Republic of Lithuania. Some documents have been destroyed during the Second World War and now they can be seen only in the form of photos. The purpose of the research and the expected final result is: on the basis of the identified archive inventories of The Grand Duchy of Lithuania and archives of the Radziwill family, as well as on the basis of already accumulated scientific data – to make the reconstruction of the list of documents of the State Archive The Grand Duchy of Lithuania, find the lost acts and the restoration of complex of originals of State Archive in electronic form as a whole one body.
