Regional image of Belarus in the mass media

Communication issues of designing the image of the regions have an important strategic significance for the state at the moment and are directly related to the process of implementing the Program of Social and Economic Development of the Republic of Belarus for 2016-2020, as well as the National Strategy for Sustainable Development of the Republic of Belarus for the period until 2030 and other documents aimed at improvement of the living standards of the local population. The need for closer attention to them is conditioned by strengthening the state's positions on the international arena, activities aimed at the development of tourism, sports and culture. A special role in the formation of regional images is played by such communication participants as local authorities and central socio-political media. These participants that accumulate information about the events taking place there. This information is consumed by Belarusians and foreigners. The need to study modern socio-political press in this aspect is paid attention to this article. More than that the data of the content-analytical study of “Selskaya gazeta” (the content of which is devoted to the issues of regional development) are described. The image of the Belarusian territories created by mass media has been represented on the basis of content analysis. The results of the research will contribute to the substantial promotion of specific regional image strategies and can be used by editorial offices and journalists, as well as by the scientific community in developing issues of the Belarusian territories image formation.
