Information in the context of modern radio journalism: basic meanings of the term

The definition of information is investigated both in general context and in relation to journalism. The concept of «information» is considered from the point of view of various scientific theories, the authors of which are, including authoritative foreign sociologists and philosophers. Emphasis is placed on such concepts as news and infotainment. The main sociocultural functions of the infotainment are considered, as well as the main criteria characterizing the notion «news information».
