The role of information and communication technologies in the formation of a national image of China

Abstract

The article examines the problem of the formation of the national image in modern conditions of changing priorities on the world stage. States face the need to manage their image for a more successful representation in the global information space. The object of the study is the concept of soft power as one of the information and communication technologies for the formation of the country’s image. The purpose of the article is to consider the role of soft power in constructing the image of China, actualising the peaceful nature of its development and growth. Special attention is paid to the activities of the Chinese media. In the niche of the studied problem for the first time (in the literature available to the Belarusian reader), the reflection of national peculiarities in the very understanding of the policy of soft power and in specific practices of its use is correlated.
