Experience of internet and new media regulation in China and world: comparative characteristics

Abstract

For the first time the article examines and compares strategies of Internet and new media regulation and self-regulation in China and a number of countries with the most experience in this area. The practice of creating special state bodies for this purpose or empowering several existing departments is compared. It observes the main credentials of such bodies, defines the standards and boundaries of supervision and control, areas of activity and categories of content that are subjected to regulation and supervision, their impact on the editorial policy of online media and news portals are considered.
