Thematic priorities of regional press in terms of transformation of modern media space

Abstract

Information potential of contemporary local press in transformation conditions social reality and the emergence of modern media space is explored in this article. Сoverage features in the pages of the district press issues of social, cultural, political and economic life of the region are analyzed. The author presents the results of a content analytical study theme and genre of content differentiation of regional newspapers of Brest region. The idea that in the long term print versions of the newspapers will be able to compete in the media services market only in the content is justified. At that edition of the local media should take into account the specificity of all the components of the propagation environment: the economic, the social structure of the region, scientific and cultural potential of the local community, its political condition, as well as the main characteristics of the information market for the efficient functioning of their publications. Attention is focused on the fact that the media have become more powerful sector of modern business with a change in the media industry, but  may lose a very important – its audience – in pursuit of commercial gain. Only an information product that is in demand the reader, increases the efficiency of business of publications.
