The article provides a theoretical basis for such a concept of «art journalism», preconditions for the emergence of a new type of journalistic practice are analyzed: mass culture, clip thinking and postmodernism. The article emphasizes the qualitative characteristics of art journalism and divorces the concepts of «literary and art critique» and «art journalism», reveals their main differences and similarities. The purpose of the research is to give an idea of the concept of «art journalism» and the functioning of this direction in Belarus. The relevance of the topic is conditioned by the changes in the modern media space and the need to generalize and systematize the results of the previous researches in order to highlight the peculiarities of the Belarusian art journalism. Special attention is paid to the influence of art journalism on literary and art critique, which is expressed in the gradual transition of critique to the Internet. The author touches upon the issue of the place of artistic analysis in art journalism, which is minimized or absent at all. Today, sensationalism, advertising, and the reflection of a piece of art or a cultural event in economic or political discourse come to the fore. There is a close connection between art journalism and literary and art critique, so it is wrong to think that one of the directions will disappear completely in the future. Thus, art journalism can be considered as a transformed literary and art critique. The practical significance of the study is that the analysis and conclusions drawn from it will be useful for journalists working in the field of art journalism to improve their knowledge and practical skills.
