Law «On Belarusian spelling and punctuation rules» and it’s evaluation on the Internet

Abstract

The statements of the officials, the users of the Internet resources and developers of law «On Belarusian spelling and punctuation rules» (2008) are analyzed there. They concern the reasons of creating of the legislative base in the field of national spelling, the tasks of improving orthography at the present stage, the influence of new rules on the functioning of the Belarusian language in the society. Three main groups of Internet users, whose argumentations and facts can serve as the indicators of the Belarusian social thought regarding orthographic problem in the first decade of the XXI century are defined there. Among them, there are persons, who perceive the law and innovations negatively (60 %), state the value of the law (30 %), the persons who do not see the point in the enactment and studying new rules (10 %).
