Abstract

The role of the Belarusian factor and functioning specifics is being studied thereof in the creativity of the Polish writer, Yu. Chekhovich. It reveals and defines forms and levels of the artistic embodiment of the Belarusian discourse in author’s poetry and prose: the chronotope (the village of Slabodka), realities, motives, symbolic images, heroes, character, landscape, and language. In Yu. Chekhovich’s poetry, a special place belongs to the socio-psychological portrait of the Belarusian peasantry, the folklore, culture and traditions of which reflect the originality and stability of the spiritual basics of people’s life. For the Polish writer, the nature of Belarusian land, untouched by civilization, is an embodiment of harmony and beauty. The work defines the antiwar nature of his artistic and documentary prose based on his impressions from the Soviet-Polish war. It proves that the artistic world of Yu. Chekhovich’s creativity was largely formed in the power field of the dialogue run within the traditions and cultures of the Belarusian-Polish borderland.
