The scientific activity of the department of Belarusian linguistics of the faculty of philology of the Belarusian State University is considered. The main attention is paid to the development of two scientific topics related to the study of the history of the Belarusian language and its current state, cooperation with leading domestic and foreign scientific institutions. The vision of the purpose and promising areas of activity of the department is outlined.
