Studying of old Belarusian literature in the context of literary canonization

This article examines the current issues of teaching of old Belarusian literature of the XI–XVIII centuries that arise from the secondary school and higher education curricula. The examination is done from the viewpoint of the literary canon discussions that have been wide and considerable in the humanities discourses of the West and East since the end of the XX century. It reports an obvious bias within the academic canon (particularly, a lack of the XVIII century literature in the secondary school curriculum), instances of the transformation of the aporematic discourse into canonical, and a high level of existing informationeclecticity together with alow level of knowledge systematization. It proposes a vector change from a «postulated» («ideal») to an «active» («real»), from «sense-based» to «design-based» canon; a disavowal of the enduring tradition of compiling normative reading lists as the goal of the curriculum. It suggests the importance of an adequate author identification of a literary text and claims the necessity to take into account the objectives of creating epistemological profiles of each literary epoch.
