The wisdom of King Solomon: ethical-social reconstruction
Keywords:
Book of proverbs, Ecclesiastes, wisdom, faith, social and moral norms, rules of practical wisdom, behaviourAbstract
The main ethical and social ideas contained in the «Book of proverbs» and «Ecclesiastes» are revealed. It is shown that they consist in the observance of a peculiar code of moral norms of a religious nature and the rules of practical wisdom, which cover human behaviour in various spheres of life. It is emphasised that the fundamental norms of virtuous behaviour, first of all, relate to the attitude towards other people, behaviour in the family and upbringing. The general semantic orientation of norms and rules to the formation of positive personal qualities is noted. The signs of an ideal royal administration and a harmonious structure of public life are highlighted. Attention is drawn to the fact that moral and social norms are supported by references to the coming retribution for sins and bad deeds.
