The influence of experience, expression, and control of anger on behavioural strategies in a situation of provocation
of aggression was studied. It was found that women, compared to men, exhibit higher rates of personal, formal-dynamic, and reactive anger, while men, unlike women, exhibit higher rates of predisposition to an active-aggressive behavioural strategy and lower rates of predisposition to an escape (withdrawal) strategy. Regardless of gender, indicators of situational, personal, reactive anger, and external expression of anger were positively correlated with an active-aggressive behavioural strategy, while indicators of situational anger and internal expression of anger were positively correlated with a passive-aggressive strategy. Indicators of external expression of anger were negatively correlated with a suppressed-aggressive behavioural strategy, while indicators of internal expression of anger were negatively correlated with an escape (withdrawal) strategy. In both men and women, the greatest predictive power of the active-aggressive behavioural strategy is the orientation toward the preferred use of external expression of anger, while the predictive power of the passive-aggressive and suppressed-aggressive behavioural strategies, as well as the escape (withdrawal) strategy, is the internal expression of anger.
