Cultural identity: personal choice or social norm
Keywords:
cultural identity, memory, practice, realityAbstract
The phenomenon of identity is understood as a constructed social norm. The search for one’s own cultural identity is considered as a socio-cultural obligation, not as an individual choice. A prospective analysis of the issue of the existence of identity outside the boundaries of psychology is presented. Changes in the modern philosophical and culturological understanding of cultural identity in the context of the cognitive abilities of the individual are shown. Connections between possible interpretations of the understanding of cultural identity outside the boundaries of psychology are determined. It is noted that the construction of cultural identity contributes to the search for answers to questions regarding the possibilities for rethinking human existence within the framework of culture.
