Abstract

The cultural and educational potential of the urban environment is analyzed. The functions of urban public space are singled out as a cultural and educational resource (socially inclusive, communicative, organizational). The theoretical interpretation of the term "cultural and educational space" is given in the urban perspective. Its components are considered and the factors determining the cultural and educational potential of the city are highlighted. The term «cultural-educational locus» is introduced (an element of urban space that provides both purposeful and unconscious interaction of the individual with the educational environment). The process of designing an individual cultural and educational space is being studied (on the example of Minsk). The characteristics of the cultural and educational space of the city are given On the basis of empirical data, stimulating the citizens to more actively use the cultural and educational potential, as well as facilitating the internalization of the strategy of continuing education.
