The potential and high social mission of education in shaping the worldview of the younger generation are considered. It is noted that today the search for new promising ways to improve the educational system is a factor in the preservation and development of mankind in the face of the growing threat of destruction of the fundamental foundations of civilisational life and even the self-destruction of mankind. Cardinal social changes will inevitably lead to an aggravation of the problem of preserving the fundamental meanings and values of the functioning of society. This problem is the subject of a socio-philosophical analysis, which is aimed, among other things, at improving the education system. It is emphasised that the new challenges faced by the world necessitate a significant update of the theoretical and methodological base of social sciences and humanities. Research within the framework of sociology, the science of the viability of society as a stable and self-reproducing form of sociality, is gaining an important role. The points of growth of the new education system are indicated. The future of civilisation largely depends on it. The process of education and upbringing of the younger generation is the basic mechanism for the formation of their individual consciousness, which affects the general mindset of society. The ideas of creating a system of interdisciplinary teaching of an integrated course on socio-humanitarian issues are presented.
