The article examines the integration process after the collapse of the Soviet Union and analyses the strategic directions for the development of Eurasian economic integration. It is argued that the global economy is currently developing according to a scenario in which globalisation has become a common background for the development of regional strategies that are leading to a significant restructuring of the global economy. The modern global economy is characterised by the intensification of regional economic integration processes. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the creation of the Commonwealth of Independent States allowed for the preservation of economic ties between the newly independent states, and the signing of an agreement establishing an Economic Union as an integration association. The Eurasian Economic Union began its work on 2015 January 1. In the modern global economy, the Eurasian Economic Union is the second economic union in the history of integration processes. The Eurasian Economic Union’s geostrategic position makes it an important transit hub connecting Europe and Asia, bringing together countries with a shared history and experience of economic cooperation within a single state. This article explores the strategic directions for the development of Eurasian economic integration, as well as the key measures and mechanisms for their practical implementation.
