Abstract

The article examines the trends in the demographic development of Belarus in context with the forty-year consequences of the environmental disaster at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. Their connection between these consequences with the demographic problems of the historical past of the Belarusian people is shown. The value of ethnodemographic balance is noted. The content of demographic dynamics factors in the history of Belarus is revealed. The role of the Chernobyl disaster as a factor in the depopulation of Belarus is analysed.
