The article examines the potential of historical memory as a resource for patriotic education of Belarusian youth. The relevance of appealing to historical memory in the context of information and psychological warfare and attempts to falsify history is substantiated. The theoretical foundations of the study of the phenomenon (M. Halbwachs, J. Assman, P. Riker), its structure (cognitive, emotional-value, behavioural, axiological components) and functions are revealed. Based on the analysis of sociological research data (student research laboratory «Socium», 2024–2026), the features of the historical memory of modern Belarusian youth are revealed: fragmentation, mosaic, visual orientation, high media dependence. «Successful practices» of patriotic education (projects «Heirs of the winners», «Book of Memory», military-historical reconstructions) are analysed. The problems are systematised and directions for optimising educational work are proposed, including adaptation to the digital society, the development of project activities, strengthening the role of the family and consolidating educational institutions.
