Ecological and geochemical state of floodplain soils under technogenic load: a spatiotemporal assessment

The studies carried out have established that each river system has an individual set of elements that accumulate in the soils, which is determined by its location, physical and chemical properties of the soils and the degree of technogenic impact on the river floodplain. Within the urban area, the maximum accumulation of pollutants is typical for soils in floodplain areas located in the center and below the city, as well as in areas of local pollution sources. When soils are polluted, the actual content of migratory active forms of metals increases and their share of total concentrations increases, reaching 70–90 %. Facies differences in the accumulation of elements depend on the structural features and formation of the structural elements of the floodplain of a particular river. When heavy metals enter water-stream genesis, the maximum levels of their accumulation are recorded in the soils of the riverine floodplain; when they enter with surface runoff and aerial fallout, in the soils of the central and near-terrace floodplains. At the same time, the criteria for assessing the ecologico-geochemical state of soils have their own specifics, due to the functional use of floodplain areas.
