Information space as a selfdeveloping system: to the question of research methodology

Abstract

The relevance of the article is associated with the priority of studying the information space as the main object of the science of journalism and mass communication. Regardless of the topic chosen and the specific scientific problem, researchers need to fit their subject into the patterns and trends in the development of local, national and (or) global information space. However, such a complex object requires a relevant methodology, which is usually difficult. The main goal of the article is to isolate and substantiate the basic methods of studying the modern information space. The novelty of the research is mediated by the lack of special works on this topic, in which, in a concentrated form, approaches to the methodology of studying the public information space would be proposed. The practical significance of the article lies in the possibility of using its findings for a variety of studies in the field of modern journalism and mass communication.
