Popularisation of Confucian ideas in television reality shows in China

Abstract

The article examines the impact of reality shows on increasing level of spiritual and moral culture of the modern Chinese audience. The subject of the research is Confucian traditions of moral education and their revival in popular reality shows on Chinese television. The author analyses the most rated reality shows on Chinese television, «Where are we going, Dad?» and «Cyclone xiaozi». The author notes that creating reality shows that contain not only elements of entertainment, but also popularise traditional Confucian culture, is an important means of attracting viewers’ attention.
