Abstract

The article discusses the representation of toposs of Gnosticism both in theoretical mythological-political constructions and in the operas of the composer and thinker R. Wagner. Since his oeuvre is the final point in the development of romanticism and it significantly determines the formation of the cultural code of the subsequent era, the identification of the Gnostic foundations and transformations of mythological plots in the works and worldview of R. Wagner is very important for understanding of the culture of the late 19th and first half of the 20th century. The author sequentially discovers all the aforementioned toposs in the work «The Vibelungs» and in the operas «The Ring of the Nibelungs» and «Parsifal».
