Designing heuristic lessons for teaching English as a foreign language to geo-students

Abstract

The article analyses the possibility of implementing innovative technologies in teaching English as a second language (ESL) for professional purposes with special attention being paid to the training of a new-generation specialist ready for professional and personal self-development through lifelong learning. There follows a detailed description of the heuristic lesson «Landforms and landscapes» developed for the students of the faculty of geography and geoinformatics of the BSU, designed on the laws and principles of heuristic didactics and aimed at developing students’ intellectual and creative abilities.
