Abstract

In the article the relationship between the building architectural volumes and the external environment is considered in the analysis of a Belarusian manor house entrance portico. Due to active use of the portico in Belarusian manor construction mainly in the 19th century, the genesis of this formation is presented, coming from the triumphal arches of Ancient Rome, Palladian buildings, facades of French hotels. This historical and stylistic sequence is reflected in the classic period of the Belarusian manor architecture development. The portico as a small architectural form is complex in terms of semantics and use cases. The study identified four typological variants of entrance groups in Belarusian estates of the 19th century.
