Language problem as a factor of potential political instability in Belarus
Abstract
The issues of national and language policy in the modern Republic of Belarus and their impact on the identity of Belarusian people are considered. It is analyzed how the idea of native language in the Belarusian society has changed over the past 100 years. It is concluded that the model of an ethnolingual nation, which has been the basis of state building since the time of the BSSR, does not meet the modern cultural and linguistic realities of Belarus.
