Abstract

Social cognition is characterized by a number of specific features, among which there are two main. The first is associated with a variety of types of cognitive activity, their relative autonomy and sovereignty. The second feature deduces the diversity and various functional purpose of the forms of consolidating the results of knowledge. In this regard, the article considers the specifics of qualification of the results of cognitive activity as true knowledge. If the qualification of truth is inherent in scientific knowledge, then other phenomena act as its correlates, depending on the basic functions of knowledge in other areas of human activity. So for pre-scientific, everyday knowledge truth is related to worldly wisdom and common sense, for extra-scientific knowledge truth correlates with the conviction that forms the basis of the worldview, and for institutional knowledge the correlate of truth is practical efficiency.
