Sex differences in prosocial personality characteristics of those convicted of drug trafficking

Abstract

The article examines the sex differences in the prosocial characteristics of convicted persons serving sentences for drug trafficking in correctional institutions. The features of criminal personality, its moral and prosocial settings have been studied. The sample consisted of 146 respondents aged 20 to 61 (73 men and 73 women). It has been found that men have higher indicators of public, emotional and altruistic types of prosocial behaviour, fantasy, empathic care, norm of social responsibility, norm of reciprocity, norm of equity and norm of cost – remuneration, they’re more capable of putting themselves in someone else’s shoes. It has been found that women have higher rates of emergency prosocial behaviour and personal distress.
