Behavior’s reactions to the request of the chief to perform an unethical action
Abstract
The article gives a general description of crimes of obedience, as well as situational and personal characteristics of its manifestation in human behavior. To find out the features of such behavior, a study was conducted involving 1078 people. Methods of diagnostics of personal qualities and author’s questionnaire «Styles of behavior in a situation of the authorities for work relations» were used. The study showed that in a situation where a leader asks a subordinate to commit an unethical act, people, in general, experience pronounced negative emotions and often choose partial subordination. Men in such situations often obey, and women experience more negative emotions and most often choose partial submission, evasion and negativism. For persons prone to submission, an unethical request induce aggression or evasion. Individuals with a pronounced dominant-leading type of behavior, are not prone to subordination in ordinary situations, are more accommodating in a situation of unethical request.
