The image of Minsk in the art of the 19th century: Józef Peszka, Barthélemy Lauvergne, Napoleon Orda

Abstract

In this article, the step-by-step creation of the image of the city of Minsk in the professional art of the 19th century is considered as significant for the further elaboration of genius loci of Minsk and its urban landscape. The author highlights common and specific features of the works of artists Józef Peszka, Barthélemy Lauvergne and Napoleon Orda, who featured cityscapes of Minsk and its surroundings. The evolution of artistic thinking and the tasks set by artists when creating a circle of works are considered.
