Virtualization of education in a digital economy

Abstract

The article discusses the problems of improving the training of specialists in the higher education system of the Republic of Belarus, taking into account new tasks and challenges in the context of the digitalization of the economy. The author proceeds from the fact that training in information and computer technologies and the formation of a digital culture must be carried out not only for the students receiving specialized education in this field, but also for all other students. In digital culture, not only professional (special), but also general, universal competencies are required for specialists employed in any area of the modern economy. The same universal competencies are necessary for the effective life of the population as a whole in the context of growing digitalization. The sphere of higher education needs significant modernization in order to develop the required competencies and digital culture for all students and thereby prepare personnel for the digital economy. The young generation of students, totally involved in the virtual reality of the Internet, is ready for the corresponding chan- ges in the field of education. Its virtualization will be an adequate response to the global challenge currently facing Belarus and other countries along the path of developing industry 4.0.
