Longitudinal research of the Belarusian family on the methodology of the «Generations and gender» programme
Abstract
The article presents the methodical and organisational features of the second wave of the longitudinal research «Family formation, stability of family relations and fertility in changing socio-economic conditions of Belarusians», conducted by the Centre for Sociological and Political Researches of the Belarusian State University in 2023. The content of each stage of the sociological research is presented with a list of the problems faced by the researchers. The features of working with the panel within the framework of a longitudinal study, the reasons for the unavailability of the panel respondents during repeated measurements are noted (the overall panel achievability level has exceeded 20 %). Much attention was paid to the formation, training and support of field personnel (166 interviewers were involved). Fragments of interviewers’ field diaries are presented, they reflect the main problems of conducting field work. The scientific and practical significance of the research results in the analysis of demographic processes in the country is noted.
