A profession that «unravels» society: the department of sociology of the Belarusian State University is 35 years old
Abstract
The milestones of institutionalisation of professional sociological education in Belarus are investigated, the role of the department of sociology of the faculty of philosophy and social sciences of the Belarusian State University in this process is noted. The idea is emphasised that the opening of the department of sociology in 1989 and the creation of the department of sociology at the Belarusian State University became a significantevent in the development of the national education system, which made it possible to complete the institutionalisation of sociological science and begin training professional sociological personnel. Today, the teaching staff of the department of sociology makes a significantcontribution to the training of highly qualified specialists and the development of sociological science in the country.
