"Journal of the Belarusian State University. Sociology" was founded by the Belarusian State University  in 1997. The journal was published under the name «Sociology» until 2017.

Through all the years since its creation the journal has been keeping the position of the country’s leading academic journal on basic theoretical and applied problems of sociology, philosophy and political science. The journal became a reliable platform for a bold and open conversation on the most topical issues of the day. Here, the authors who have deep knowledge and leaders of public opinion, enjoying high prestige and respect among the professional community are supported and regularly published. The pages of the publication are disputed by humanitarians and naturalists, theorists and practitioners, physicists and lyricists, where dialogue is cultivated and priority is given to arguments and facts.

As a rule, in each issue of the journal, there are leading and widely known scientists in the world: sociologists, philosophers, economists, historians, philologists, writers, literary men, representatives of natural and human sciences, theorists and practitioners.

The journal is intended for people who are not indifferent to their past, present and future. It has become a great help for lecturers, researchers, postgraduate students and students, as well as for all those who are interested in the problems of the development of modern society.

Editor-in-Chief is Alexander N. Danilov, doctor of science (sociology), full professor, corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus; head of the department of sociology, faculty of philosophy and social science, Belarusian State University.

The editorial board includes not only leading Belarusian sociologists, but also a lot of well-known scientists from countries of near and far abroad.

The journal conducts a double-blind review of received manuscripts.

Periodicity is 4 issues per year (quarterly).

The target audience of the journal is made up of researchers, lecturers who study sociological problems of modern society on theoretical and empirical levels.

The journal is addressed to experts of sociological and information-analytical services of state and public organizations, commercial structures. The journal is directed towards postgraduate students, applicants, master’s degree students and students of social and humanitarian profile, as well as all those who are interested in social problems of the development and functioning of society.

Publication in the journal is free of charge for all authors. 

Languages are Russian, Belarusian and English.

"Journal of the Belarusian State University. Sociology" is included in the list of the leading periodicals recommended by the Higher Attestation Commission of the Republic of Belarus for publishing doctoral research results in the field of sociology, philosophy and political science. The journal is included in Russian citation databases such as Elibrary.ru.

The abstracts of each issue are published in the monthly scientific journal of the Russian Academy of Sciences "Sociological Studies. SOCIS" (Moscow).
