Prosopography: the history of the formation and development of the method
Abstract
The article defines prosopography as a method of historical research, analyzes problems that complicate its holistic understanding. The reasons and conditions of the appearance of the prosopographical method, the main stages of its formation and development in historiography are considered. The works of the authors – founders of the method – are carefully analyzed. A conclusion is made about the potential usefulness of prosopography in the study of the problems of the history of Belarus.
