At the origins of the methodology of economic science: N. W. Senior and J. S. Mill

Abstract

The article is devoted to the identification of the main theoretical and methodological prerequisites for the formation of economic science and the study of the normative approach. The historical and philosophical reconstruction of the formation of ideas about the subject, tasks and methods of classical political economy is carried out. It is proved that the methodology of economic science takes place during the period of domination of the school of classical political economy with its emphasis on the study of an extremely abstract picture of economic reality. The significance of theoretical and methodological works of N. U. Senior and J. S. Mill in the context of the formation of the methodology of economic science of the classical school.
