Abstract

A short essay on the formation of a scientific school of physics and chemistry of liquid crystals is given. The essay  presents a number of the most important scientific results obtained at the departments of the optical profile and in the A. N. Sevchenko Institute of Applied Physical Problems of the Belarusian State University in recent years, both in the  field of fundamental and applied research, implemented in the production and in the educational process.
